Personal Care Solution Provider

A PROJECT FROM A TO Z

COUNTRY:
Canada

PRIORITY OBJECTIVES:

To improve throughput and reduce costs in all areas according to each of their respective targets. Another priority objective was to make improvements to the processes in both Inventory Management and the Warehouse itself.

PVA’S RESPONSE:

To install a customized Management Operating System that could quickly and efficiently be used to better plan, execute and follow-up on work being completed. Some specific actions that contributed to the results were:

  • validating and/or developing standards
  • implementing enhanced planning, follow-up and reporting system elements
  • clearly defining roles and responsibilities for Supervisors and Managers
  • implementing a problem resolution mechanism
  • providing training and coaching to Management – both in the classroom and on-the-floor

PROJECT RESULTS:

Some of the results that our Client achieved were:

  • a 40% reduction in the number of days that finished product was in inventory
  • a 50% increase in throughput (units produced per week)
  • a 35% improvement in productivity (UDLH)

In addition, improved planning was realized through the installation of critical planning documents, which optimized and considered capacity, backlog, process, product and labor requirements. Substantial improvements were achieved in the Warehouse through reorganizing the department’s physical layout and by overhauling the business’s core processes.

PERPETUATION OF RESULTS:

Perpetuation is being realized through the on-going partnership between PVA and this company. They have some of their own employees trained as Continuous Improvement Coordinators to conduct regular system audits and to analyze and action all audit results. PVA is also conducting audits in order to ensure site-wide management system compliance and a successful implementation of their Continuous Improvement Program.
